The 3rd Public Workshop on the Newport Comprehensive Land Use Plan update was held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016.  The workshop provided an update of key existing conditions and findings, and sought input regarding the development of policies and implementation actions that the City should consider as part of the update process. The follow six elements were discussed at the meeting: Economic Development, Neighborhoods, Transportation and Circulation, Open Space, Energy, and Natural Hazards and Climate Change.

The workshop drew a great turnout, which fostered an enthusiastic dialogue between community members on these topic areas. Thank you to all that were able to join us at the workshop.

1st Public Workshop

Tuesday, October 13, 2015
6:30 to 8:45 PM
Pell Elementary School

thumb 2015 10 13The first of the two project workshops was a great success, despite the need to quickly reschedule the date and to find a new, suitable location. Thank you to the approximately forty citizens who participated and provided comments and suggestions. Your work is GREATLY appreciated.

A wealth of information was provided that will help the Planning Board develop a draft “Vision,” as well as initial concepts for Plan Goals, policies, issues and opportunities. The project consultant will compile and evaluate material from the work shop and will provide the Board and its staff with a draft Vision and findings regarding the topic areas and suggestions provided.

More detail and information regarding the workshop results will be provided on this web page following that assessment, including a draft Vision Statement. Members of the public will be asked to evaluate that draft Vision and to provide comments.

Please also note that comments can be provided at any time on any subject relevant to the Plan scope via the GREEN comment tab on the upper left of this Home Page. We welcome your comments and strongly encourage you to share your thoughts. All input provided will become part of the project record and will be fully considered in the development of the Plan.
